STEM Challenge
We were delighted to be offered a place on the Building a Bridge to France programme organised by W5 and the British Council.
Over the past few months, our Year 7 children have enjoyed a series of lessons including a variety of challenges, two live online French lessons and a Building the Bridge challenge session in school using K’nex.
The final challenge was for the children to design and make a bridge using only the materials provided by W5. The bridge had to be over 1m in length and able to withhold a 1kg weight.
Today the children travelled to W5 with their bridge to participate in the final celebration day. The bridge was named The Great Society’s Bridge and was presented to the panel of judges. Five children joined the panel for a question and answer session. The judges had a very difficult decision to make today as all the bridges passed all the tests! Unfortunately we did not win but we thoroughly enjoyed our day out!
