Accommodation and Location
The school is located in pleasant and extensive grounds off Rugby Avenue which joins Mountsandel Road with Lodge Road Roundabout. The present building was opened in June 1979 and consists of fifteen classrooms located in three separate wings linked to each other throughout by corridors. Each of these areas has a communal practice area where the practical dimension of some subjects is undertaken. It is here also that water and sink facilities for practical work are to be found.
The school library has a range of fiction and non-fiction books including encyclopaedias and a number of computers, printers and CD Roms. These are available for use by teachers and pupils.
There is also a large hall which may be conveniently divided into two sections. It is in one of these sections that the school houses some of its Physical Education equipment and where some aspects of PE may be taught. Pupils may also gather in the hall for morning assembly. A section of the hall is used for canteen purposes while the complete hall is used for school activities and events when a gathering of parents or friends is expected.
Cloak areas are located outside their respective classrooms while toilet facilities are adjacent to practice areas and are therefore within easy distance of all classrooms.
The school has its own kitchen facilities and provides on site meals for children who attend the school.
The extensive grass areas to the rear of the main building permit the pursuit of game activities and it is at this location that the school holds its soccer and athletics events. There are also some sections of tarmac where children may play at lunch times.
The tree and shrub areas which are found within our grounds add to the pleasing environment in which the school is situated and add an aesthetically pleasing dimension to our location.
